4.11.2010

So this last weekend was awesome. Kishelle and I got to go the Tacoma to spend the day at the Gray Skies Blues Festival. For those of you who don't know I am really big into the blues as well as hip hop. Some might thing that they are on opposite sides of the spectrum but they are very similar. Check this out if you want so see them together. Anyways there was a ton of good music and I got to hang with my family which I really enjoy. So take a look and let me know what you think.

BBQ Rub

So if you didn't know I am big into cooking. I have been doing it for about a decade 5-6 nights a week and seriously, I love it more than everything (except you babycakes you're my whole world). My favorite method of cooking is, by far, barbecuing. There is nothing like cooking meat with fire. I have been experimenting for years and have determined the only way to barbecue is slow and low. Much like the Beastie Boys I am a fan of this method and it is in fact the tempo.

When you are going to be cooking something for 3-12 hours you are going to need a good rub to not only seal in the moisture but to make a good bark on the outside of whatever you are cooking. Here is my personal favorite that I have been working on for a while let me know what you think. It makes quit a bit so you should be set for a bit.

Christian's All Around Dry Rub
1 Cup - Kosher Salt
1/2 Cup - Pepper (preferably course ground)
1/2 Cup - Granulated Garlic
1 Cup - Brown Sugar or Turbinado Sugar
1/4 Cup - Paprika
1/4 Cup - Onion Powder
1/4 Cup - Chili Powder
2 TBS - Ground Mustard (the Asian stuff is the best)
2 TBS - Oregano
2 TBS - Celery Seed
2 TBS - Ground Ginger
1/4 Cup - Cumin
1 - 3 TBS - Cayenne Pepper (depending on how hot you like it)
2 TSB - Ground Coriander
1 TSB - Ground Tumeric

I use this on pretty much everything I put on the barbeque and it works pretty good for me. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

4.4.2010

So I didn't get to take too many pictures last weekend so I didn't do a post. This weekend however I got to experience a couple of things. First 3rd Annual International Pillow Fight which took place at Westlake on Saturday. It was pretty cool there was live music and about 100 people bashing each other with pillows. It was an interesting experience. Then it was our friends birthday as well which I got a few good shots. Then Sunday was Easter and even though I am not a believer I still think it's a good day to get together with your family. We also got to hang out with Kishelle's friend's family and they were super cool. Anyways take a look and let me know what you think. Hope you all had a nice holiday.

3.20.2010

This weekend I got to take a few pics in and around Seattle. The weather was killer so on Friday we went down to Myrtle Edwards/Sculpture Park. Kishelle, my wife, brought her friend who is cool as shit and we got some pretty cool pics. On Saturday I got to see an old friend of mine who lives in Bonney Lake who has a 2 week old names Charlie aka Chuck. He has this skin thing so I didn't really shoot him much but I will in the future. Then I got some awesome time lapses around Alki and West Seattle. All in all it was a good weekend for taking pics.

3.13.2010

This weekend I made my way to Tacoma to take some pics but to also bbq at my Mom's house. I love this town for those who didn't know. They have had a rough couple of months but hasn't lost any of it's uniqueness. When I got downtown I realized there is a crazy amount of shit to take pictures of. I am in no way done shooting that place. I did get to smoke these ribs for 4 hours and they turned out really great. Anyways check out the pics and let me know what you think.

Photobombing

I love photobombing. Nothing like ruining someone's picture with a horrible face or a fresh taint. It's really awesome. You know what is funnier that when people do it? When animals do it instead. They honestly have no idea that they are doing it. So with that I leave you with this. My cute ass little sister in law posing in her pretty little princess dress with their dog taking care of business in the back. Thank you Michelle for this.

Also if you haven't checked out this site then you are missing out.

Here are some of the pics from last weekend. They were taken in Seattle, Port Orchard and Southworth which is where the West Seattle Ferry lands. In this little rural town there are a couple of friends of ours who are totally kick ass. We had a fantastic time
at their place and the fire was epic. Check them out and let me know what you think. I am switching to Flickr for sharing of my pics because from what I have been told, this is the site for photographers. If you want any of my pics email me and I will hook you up.
